Scanning
The barcode will not scan
Give it more light, hold the phone a little further back, and keep the whole barcode inside the frame. If the package is shiny or curved, try it at an angle. You can also tap the keyboard button on the scanner and type the number printed under the bars.
It says the product is not in the catalogue
Most of the time it simply is not there yet. Photograph the nutrition label when the app offers to, and Anaar will read it and add the product — for you and for the next person who scans it.
The score
What does the number mean?
It is a single figure calculated from the nutrition panel, shown with a word — Great, Good, So-so or Poor — and a colour. Tap it to see exactly what counted for and against: every line that moved the number is listed.
Why does this product have no score?
Because we do not have enough of its label to calculate one honestly. A product can have a full nutrition panel and still show no score. When that happens the app shows what it does know and leaves the score blank rather than guessing.
Is a high score the same as healthy?
No. The score reads one package's label; it knows nothing about you, how much of it you eat, or what else you eat. It is not medical or dietary advice. See the terms.
Allergens
Do not rely on Anaar if you have an allergy. Some of the sources our catalogue draws on carry no allergen statement at all. For those products the app shows an ingredient list and no warning — and the absence of a warning means nothing. Manufacturers also change recipes without the catalogue changing. Read the physical package every time.
Something is wrong with a product
Open the product and use Report an issue. Tell us what is wrong — the nutrition is incorrect, it is the wrong product entirely, the ingredients are off, something is missing — and add a photograph of the label if you can. We check reports and correct the catalogue.
Your account
I did not get the six-digit code
Check the junk folder, make sure the address is spelled as you typed it, and wait half a minute before asking for another. Codes expire after ten minutes.
How do I delete my account?
Account → Delete account. It signs you out everywhere immediately, and your profile, history, saved products, label photographs and push tokens are erased within 30 days. It cannot be undone. You can also ask us at info@tryanaar.com, from the address you signed up with — you do not need the app installed.
Can I use Anaar without an account?
An account is what makes your history yours: it follows you to a new phone and it is what the label reads are attached to. Signing in takes an email address and a six-digit code.
Where Anaar works
Canada and the United States. The catalogue is strongest on products sold there, and it grows every time somebody photographs a label.
